If you do not see your question listed below, please email nextgen@edmonton.ca for more information and answers to any questions you may have regarding the Edmonton Community Challenge.
My family/friends want to join my team, but they don’t live in my neighborhood. Can they still participate on my team?
Yes, although we encourage everyone to join the team of the neighborhood they live in, it is not a requirement for registration. They must understand however that if your team wins the overall Challenge, that the prize will go to the community league your team is representing. The prize is intended for one community league only, and cannot be shared between leagues.
I don’t know which community league I belong in. What should I do?
Please contact Michael Janz at michael.janz@efcl.org , and he will be able to pair you up with your league based on your postal code.
I am trying to register, but do not see my community listed. What should I do?
If you don’t see your community league listed, unfortunately they have not yet registered for this event. If you would like to inquire about becoming a team captain and registering your community league, please contact Michael Janz at michael.janz@efcl.org . You also have the option of joining another team that has already registered, representing another community league.
If our community league wins, we want to use the money for an event. Is this acceptable?
No. The money has to go towards a capital project that is agreed upon within your community league.
I can’t commit to going to every event. Can I still participate?
Sure can! The Challenge has been designed to be flexible for everyone’s busy schedule. There are several opportunities to participate and gain points for your team.
I want to become a sponsor. Who do I contact?
Please contact Christine Causing from the Next Gen office at (780) 496-4889, email: christine.causing@edmonton.ca , or Tegan Martin-Drysdale at (780) 222-7420, email: f8_shutterbug@hotmail.com
I don’t have a community league membership. Can I still participate in the Edmonton Community Challenge?
Absolutely! We encourage everyone to get involved in their communities, but a membership is not required to participate in this event.
Are there any age restrictions to participate?
Most events are open to all ages, however due to safety concerns there are a few that have age restrictions due to the nature of the activity. Regardless, all children under the age of 12 must be supervised by adult.
Are you looking for volunteers to help run the events?
Yes we are, to volunteer, please contact the Next Gen office at (780) 496-4889, or by email at nextgen@edmonton.ca .
How many people can be on a team?
Since we are encouraging as much participation as possible, there is no minimum and no maximum to the size of the team for the Edmonton Community Challenge. Some individual events do have limitations such as the “Can It” Challenge, so please review the event details and participation rules from your team captain.
