The Challenge

By registering to join a community league team, individuals will have the chance to demonstrate their energy, creativity, and commitment to sustainability. Passports will be given to each registered team participant to provide key event and sponsorship information, as well as provide a method of obtaining precious participation points for your team.

The 4 key events established for the Edmonton Community Challenge throughout June 2010 are: the Neighbourhood Clean Up, 24 Hour Bike Repair-a-Thon, “Can It” Challenge, and the Photo Scavenger Hunt. In addition to these 4 key events, there will be other great events occurring in the city of Edmonton where you can gain points just by showing up. Check out the Calendar section for a list of these events, dates, and further details.

Above all, have fun and strive to make a difference in your own backyard. Great communities help build great cities!!!

The Reward

You can gain the most points for your team just by participating! The goal of the Challenge is to encourage participation through a fun, friendly, charitable event, with the winning community league receiving a community fund, as well as individual door prizes for all participants. The team with the most points by the end of June, will receive a community fund that will be used by the Community League they represent, for a project that directly benefits the local neighborhood.

Other great rewards as a result of participating – having fun with your family and friends, getting to know your neighbors, making a difference in your own backyard and in the lives of Edmontonians in need.

The Passport

The passport is key for your attendance to any event. It is your proof of participation in the Challenge, and your ticket into the 4 key events. Always bring your passport with you when you are attending all events and get it stamped to ensure that your participation is counted towards points for your team!

All passports must be handed in by June 26th in order have your points tallied for your team!  You can drop them off at the EFCL or Next Gen Offices prior to June 26th, or at the “Can It” Challenge registration table on June 26th.
